Floating or sinking? ⛵️

As part of our Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch topic, we have been investigating floating and sinking. We were given a collection of items, such as paper clips, plastic straws, marbles, sponges and cutlery and had to sort them into which ones we thought would float and which ones we thought would sink. We then tested them in tubs of water and discovered that most of our predictions were correct!

Mugdock Park 🐛

Primary 2/3 had a fab time at Mugdock Park last week! We found lots of mini-beasts on our hunt through the forrest and loved getting the chance to try pond dipping. Someone even found a newt! Even though it rained a lot, we still managed to squeeze in a trip to the park.

‘Eggcellent’ Easter Cakes

Primary 2/3 absolutely loved making Easter cakes with Primary 2 yesterday! We mixed melted chocolate and Shreddies together to make the nests and then put chocolate eggs in them. Miss Baxter and Miss Beattie had to try a few of them, just because they looked so tasty and they were delicious!

Spanish tasting!

Primary 2/3 loved getting the chance to try all sorts of different Spanish food yesterday! We all voted for our favourite food afterwards and rallied up the results. The Seville oranges and chorizo were very popular, but not many people enjoyed the Manchego cheese or olives. Miss Baxter and Mrs Coughlan were very proud of everyone for their great attitude towards trying new food!

Cabeza, hombros, rodillas, pies!

We’ve been brushing up on our Spanish in Primary 2/3 and can now name all our body parts! We’ve even drawn round ourselves and labelled the pictures with the Spanish words.

Primary 2/3 are great at sharing!

This term, we have been learning lots about fractions and have started working on halving and quartering amounts. Here are some of the activities that we’ve been doing:

Every litter bit hurts

For Eco Week, Primary 2/3 have been learning all about the effects of litter on the environment. We were so shocked at what we found out that we decided to help by picking up litter in our local environment. You wouldn’t believe how many bin bags full of litter that we collected!
